Mosta stun Tarxien Rainbows

Mosta registered a second consecutive win in the BOV Premier League as they defeated Tarxien Rainbows 3-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

For the Rainbows, this was the second defeat in three matches. However much more was expected from Tarxien following a most comfortable win over St. Andrews in their previous outing.

Tarxien coach Jose Borg made four changes as Luke Grech, Andre Scicluna, Andrew Agius and Alex Nilsson replaced Daniel Zerafa, Stefan Radovanovic, Matthew Brincat and Gabriel Aquilina in the starting line-up.

Mosta, on the other hand, had James Brincat, Steve Bonnici and new signing Juri Cisotti replacing Kyle Frendo, Zachary Brincat and Francesco Mazzavillani from the team which defeated Senglea in their last game.

Mosta took the lead on the 18th minute thanks to Misael Miranda Gomez who advanced into the area before hitting hard past Andrea Cassar.

Tyrone Farrugia doubled the score for Mosta one minute from the end of the first half following a James Brincat corner.

However Michele Paolucci was quick to reduce the gap for Tarxien just before half-time with a fine shot which beat Mosta goalie Andreas Vella.

However seven minutes in the second half, Mosta extended the lead thanks to James Brincat who beat Andrea Cassar when served by Miranda Gomez.
