Heavy defeat for Under-17 side to Austria

The Malta Under-17 side suffered a heavy 0-7 defeat to Austria in a match from Group 3 of the UEFA Under-17 Championship qualifying round at the NNC Brdo in Kranj, Slovenia on Wednesday.

Matthias Braunöder put Malta ahead on the 16th minute and two minutes later, Yusuf Demir doubled the score Three minutes from the end of the first half, Demir made it 3-0. Austria scored their fourth goal thanks to substitute Bernhard Zimmermann on the 64th minute who also managed to add another goal five minutes later. Two minutes from time, Felix Köchl converted a penalty and on the 90th minute, Deniz Pehlivan made it 7-0.

In another match, Slovenia defeated Bulgaria 1-0. Malta faces Slovenia on Saturday and Bulgaria on Tuesday.
