Tarxien, Mosta through to FA Trophy fourth round

Tarxien Rainbows and Mosta were the last two teams to progress to the fourth round of the FA Trophy after defeating Vittoriosa Stars and Senglea Athletic respectively at the Centenary Stadium on Monday.

In the first match, Tarxien Rainbows found no difficulty in beating First Division side Vittoriosa Stars 3-0.

Ricardo Silva Faria opened the score on the 17th minute and just before the end of the first half, Andre Scicluna doubled the score. Seven minutes in the second half, Michele Paolucci converted a penalty to seal the issue.

In the fourth round, the Rainbows take on Zebbug Rangers.

On the other hand, Mosta came back from two goals down to beat Senglea Athletic 3-2 after extra-time in a clash between two Premier League sides.

Augusto Rene Caseres put Senglea ahead on the 7th minute and six minutes later, Braian Alexis Volpini doubled the score. Romeu Romao converted a penalty to reduce the gap for Mosta on the 22nd minute. Six minutes from the end of the first half, Rafael Morisco da Silva levelled matters.

The game went into extra-time and nine minutes in the second half of extra-time, Juri Cisotti made it 3-2.

Mosta take on Sliema Wanderers in the fourth round of the competition.
