St. Andrews, Floriana share spoils in goalless draw

New Floriana coach Guido Ugolotti continues to chase his first win although the Greens earn their first point since his appointment thanks to a goalless draw with St. Andrews at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

The Saints therefore stay in ninth place, one point ahead of their opponents.

From the defeat to Gzira in their last league match, Floriana had three changes as Mohammed Saleh, Goran Galesic and Alex Cini replaced Clyde Borg, Juninho Cabral and Clayton Failla. The Saints, on the other hand, the Saints had Joseph Farrugia and Amoy Brown replacing Dejan Debono and Matthew Woo Ling following the narrow defeat to Valletta.

The Saints created the better chances throughout the ninety minutes, going close with a fine Ricardo Martin effort on the 23rd minute but Ini Etim Akpan turned the ball into a corner. Mid-way through the second half, Kemar Reid served Martin Davis who, with the open goal at his mercy, hit high. Kemar Reid then had a powerful shot parried by Akpan when served by Martin Davis.

Amoy Brown was sent off for St. Andrews on the 90th minute after receiving a second yellow card in minute.
