BOV Division 1: Sirens move top as Santa Lucia are held in another draw

Sirens are the new leaders of the BOV First Division after beating Pembroke Athleta 1-0 in one of the three matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium. A goal three minutes in the second half by John Nwoba handed the St. Paul’s Bay side the three points and the top spot as they leapfrog Santa Lucia.

Santa Lucia, on the other hand, were held in a third consecutive draw – a goalless draw with Vittoriosa Stars.

On the other hand, Firas Aboulezz was a hat-trick hero for Gudja United as they defeated Naxxar Lions 3-1. Aboulezz opened the score on the 62nd and doubled the score on the 71st and although Saturday Nanapere pulled one back on the 77th, Aboulezz added another on the 93rd.

Sirens lead the way with 21 points, followed by Santa Lucia on 20, Gudja 17, Lija and Swieqi 16, Qrendi and Vittoriosa 14, Zebbug 13, Pembroke and Mqabba 12, Naxxar 11, Zejtun 8, San Gwann 6 and Marsa 5.
