Mosta return to winning ways

Mosta collected three precious points as they defeated Qormi 2-0 in a direct clash from the lower part of the table at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

For Mosta, this was the first league win in over three months but the third consecutive positive result since the appointment of new coach Mark Miller following the win over Senglea in the FA Trophy and the draw with Gzira last week.

Qormi mentor Mario Muscat, on the other hand, continues to seek his first point after four matches. This was also their tenth successive defeat.

Qormi had one change from the team which lost to Birkirkara as new signing Antonio Rozzi replaced Seo-In Kim. Mosta, on the other hand,  lacked the suspended Dexter Xuereb and Akeem Roach with Misael Miranda Gomez and Zachary Brincat both named in the starting line-up.

The Blues took the lead on the 23rd minute when off a cross from the left by Zachary Brincat, Juri Cisotti slotted the ball past goalkeeper Jamie Azzopardi.

Qormi were unlucky to hit the upright with a Gnindokponou effort from the left on 35 minutes.

Mosta doubled the score on the hour when Juri Cisotti served Davy Claude Angan N’Guessan who hit low past Azzopardi.
