John Arne Riise appointed as Sports Director of Birkirkara FC

Birkirkara FC have appointed John Arne Riise as their Sports Director. The club said that Riise will be working together with Technical Director Michael Valenzia and Team Manager Jeffrey Farrugia in a new set-up for the club.  

John Arne Riise is known mostly for his successful spell at Liverpool with whom he won the UEFA Champions League. He is also the most capped player for Norway with 110 appearances.

Riise started his career with Aelesund and then moved to Monaco in 1998 where he spent three years. He moved to Liverpool in summer 2001. With The Reds, he spent seven years, winning the UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup. In 2008, he moved to Italy where he joined Roma but in 2011, he returned to England, joining Fulham, spending another three years. Later, he had spells with APOEL in Cyprus and Delhi Dynamos in India before returning to his home club Aalesunds FK. Later he had another spell with Chennaiyin FC in India before hanging his boots in 2016.
