Mosta rescue a point in a 1-1 draw with St. Andrews

Mosta notched a late equaliser to earn a point in a 1-1 draw with St. Andrews at the Hibernians Stadium on Sunday.

The Blues therefore obtain a third consecutive result after the draw with Gżira and the win over Qormi and now lie on the 12-point mark. The Saints on the other hand, are now alone in eighth place on 17 points, one ahead of Tarxien and Floriana.

St. Andrews had four changes from the team which lost narrowly to Gżira as Kevyn Mcfarlane, Ricardo Martin, Kemar Reid and Kurt Magro replaced Travis Blagrove, Marcus Grima, Nicholas Mclaren and Jacob Walker. Mosta, on the other hand, had new signings Gianluca Cuomo and Mohamed Aoudou making their debut. They were preferred to Davy N’Guessan and Francesco Mazzavillani.

The Saints took the lead on the 28th minute when Martin Davis took advantage of a misunderstanding between Massimo Sammartino and Romeu Romao, advanced into the area and rounded the goalkeeper to place the ball at the back of the net.

However Mosta equalised on the 90th minute thanks to Rafael Morisco da Silva who took a clearance by the goalkeeper, beating him with a first-time effort.
