Nadur fail to keep the pace with Hotspurs

Nadur Youngsters failed to keep the pace with leaders Victoria Hotspurs after being held in a 2-2 draw by Gharb Rangers at the Gozo Stadum on Sunday. The Youngsters now lie four points behind the Hotspurs.

Marcelo Junior Barbosa put Nadur ahead on the 24th minute but just before half-time, Hugo Santa Rosa Cruz levelled matters. Nadur regained the lead through Leiner Garcia Panesso on the 54th minute but deep into stoppage time, Junior Elisio Batista Da Conceicao notched the equaliser.

In another match on Sunday, SK Victoria Hotspurs defeated Munxar Falcons 3-0 thanks to a goal by Sam Harland on the 15th minute and a brace by Aud-Gustine James Obaje on the 81st and 88th.

In the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Sannat Lions and Xaghra United continue to share the top spot after both registered wins.

Xaghra defeated Zebbug Rovers 3-1. Johnny Camilleri put Xaghra ahead on the 2nd minute and although Marco Ciangura equalised five minutes later, a brace by new signing Thiago Melo dos Santos on the 32nd and 80th handed Xaghra the three points.

On the other hand, Ralph Ebube Okpokwu scored the all-important goal on the 57th minute as Sannat Lions defeated Qala Saints 1-0 on Friday.

St. Lawrence Spurs close in on Oratory Youths after defeating the 4-1 on Saturday. Charlon Farrugia scored on the 20th and 51st to put the Spurs two goals ahead. Emanuel Buttigieg reduced the gap on the 57th but Farrugia converted a penalty to make it 3-1 on the 70th with Muda Fagbeja sealing the issue six minutes later.
