Sirens extended their positive run in the BOV First Division to eight consecutive wins as they defeated Lija Athletic 3-1 at the Luxol Stadium on Friday.

Clifford Gauci put Lija ahead on the 33rd minute but the St. Paul’s Bay side turned the score in their favour thanks to Marco Antonio Morgon Filho on the 62nd, Gaetano Gesualdi on the 77th and Morgon Filho on the 92nd.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Gudja United beat Żebbuġ Rangers 2-1. Hubert Vella gave Żebbuġ the lead on the 6th minute but Raphael Kooh Sohna equalised on the 66th with the Cameroonian striker notching the winner three minutes in added time.

Sirens lead the way with 36 points, followed by Santa Lucia on 30, Gudja 29, Lija 22, Swieqi, Zejtun and Naxxar 20, Vittoriosa 18, Qrendi 17, Pembroke 16, Zebbug 15, Mqabba 13, San Gwann 10 and Marsa 5
