Hotspurs move seven points clear

Victoria Hotspurs moved seven points clear in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division as they defeated Għarb Rangers 3-1 on Sunday.

Following a goalless first half, Elton da Silva put the Hotspurs ahead on the 47th and the Brazilian converted a penalty on the 64th to double the score.
Junior Elisio Da Conceicao reduced the gap on the 65th but Christian Mercieca sealed the issue with a third goal three minutes in added time.

In another match, Kerċem Ajax registered their first win as they beat SK Victoria Wanderers 3-1. Martin Hrubsa opened the scoring on the 31st and five minutes later, Felipe Augusto De Oliviera doubled the score. The latter converted a penalty on the 49th with Predrag Djordjevic scored a consolation goal thanks to a penalty.

Meanwhile Sannat Lions moved three points clear as they defeated Xagħra United 2-1 in a top-of-the table clash in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division at the Kerċem Ajax Stadium on Saturday. Joseph George Vella put Xagħra ahead thanks to a penalty on the 27th but Brandon Said equalised on the 48th and Matthew Portelli converted a penalty on the 63rd to notch the winner.

In another match on Saturday, Żebbuġ Rovers defeated Oratory Youths 3-2.
Marcos Peres Vega notched a hat-trick for the Rovers as he opened the score on the 26th and after Luis Claudio Carvalho Da Silva equalised on the 45th, the Spanish striker converted a penalty in added time. Emanuel Buttigieg levelled matters on the 53rd but Peres Vega converted another penalty on the 70th.

On Friday, St Lawrence Spurs and Qala Saints shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw, goals by John Rapa (20′) and Michael Mumford (72′) for Qala, a Charlon Farrugia penalty on the 41st and Louis Buttigieg two minutes in added time.
