Valletta FC Futsal award walk-over

The local futsal league resumed with two matches involving Valletta and Luxol.

Valletta obtained their 13th win of the season after defeating Swieqi United 8-3. Valletta’s Camilo Andres Vanegas Gomes netted twice together with a goal apiece for Jovica Milijic, Shawn Vella, Denis Di Maio, Mohamed Lamari and Clint Farrugia. The three goals for Swieqi United came from Leonardo De Souza, Stefan Camilleri and Leo Muscat.

Following this match it was Luxol’s turn to claim another three points as they defeated Tarxien Rainbows 5-1. Luxol’s Maicon Silva Gaiewski scored twice together with a goal apiece for Matthew Attard, Mark Zammit and Marwan Telisi. Tarxien Rainbows’ sole goal was scored by Armando Djepali.

However the top-of-the-table clash between Valletta and Luxol, scheduled for Friday did not take place as Valletta did not turn up for the game in protest. Earlier in the day, the club issued an official statement in which they expressed their disappointment for decision by the MFA Disciplinary Board.

In fact, Rafael Medeiros Rodrigues was banned for four yellow cards when he had actually played just two matches while Camilo Andres Vanegas Gomez, who was reported by the match inspector after the game against Birkirkara, was only suspended after Valletta had played the game against Swieqi and therefore had to serve the ban in the clash with Luxol,.

In the Elite Round, Birkirkara moved third to join Tarxien Rainbows after beating University of Malta Students Team 5-2. The Stripes were amused by Everton Da Silva Santos’ hat-trick together with Jason Mifsud and Glenn Bonello’s goals. Unfortunately Bonello had his name also on the University’s scoresheet as he committed an own goal.

Meanwhile in the First Division, Swieqi United U21 had an entertaining Friday night match against UM Futsal Academy at the National Sport School Pavillion. Swieqi’s youngsters had three goals without a reply, thanks to Dylan Gouder, Jurgen Ciantar and Misa Spajic.
