Dramatic win leaves Hotspurs six points clear

Victoria Hotspurs came from behind to beat Xewkija Tigers 2-1 in a match from the BOV Gozo Football League First Division at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday. A win which keeps the Hotspurs six points clear of Nadur Youngsters.

Michael Camilleri put the Tigers ahead on the 18th minute but Henrique Maciel equalised on the 59th and Ferdinando Apap scored a dramatic winning goal on the 95th minute.

SK Victoria Hotspurs and Ghajnsielem shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, a penalty by Luis Andre de Melo Lima on the 11th minute for Ghajnsielem and Sam Harland on the 69th for the Wanderers.

On Friday, Nadur Youngsters beat Kercem Ajax 3-0 courtesy of Leiner Garcia Panesso on the 59th and goals by Daniel Mateo Bustos on the 68th (penalty) and the 71st.

In another match on Friday, Munxar Falcons joined Gharb Rangers on the 11-point mark after beating them 2-1. Adebayo Ademilua put Munxar ahead six minutes from the end of the first half. Junior Elisio Batista Da Conceicao equalised on the 65th but five minutes later, Diego Martins De Souza made it 2-1 for Munxar.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Sannat Lions registered a comfortable 6-1 win over Oratory Youths. The Lions scored five in the first half thanks to Matthew Portelli (1′), Joseph Zammit (14′ and 43′), Ralph Ebube Okpokwu (35′) and Brandon Said (45+1′). Okpokwu added another on the 51st with Francesco Cini reducing the gap for Oratory as he converted a penalty four minutes from time.

On the other hand, goals by Gabriel Farrugia (8′), Johann Bajada (11′), Johnny Camilleri (51′) and Kenny Hili (68′) gave Xaghra United a 4-0 win over Qala Saints.
