Malta FA launches second refugee inclusion project

MThe Malta Football Association has launched its second project on refugee inclusion, named ‘All In – All for Football’.

This social responsability initiative is a continuation of the ‘Include Me and I Will Understand project, held last year, which saw the partecipation of over 300 persons, mostly refugees and vulnerable people, 12 clubs and a number of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOS).

The ‘All In – All for Football’ project will see football clubs, NGOs and agencies, including AWAS, Appoġġ, LEAP and others come together to offer inclusion sessions, using football and football-related activities to integrate refugees, Maltese nationals and vulnerable people of all ages.

As with the ‘Include Me and I Will Understand’ campaign, which was also backed by UEFA, this new project is co-financed by the European Union.

“Thanks to this project, the Malta FA is reaching out to more people who want to partecipate in the game of football and related activities,” Peter Busuttil who co-ordinates this project on behalf of the Malta FA’s Football Social Responsabiity Department, said.

“Partecipants can take part in football sessions but also in other related activities focusing on literacy, nutrition, healthy lifestyle, first aid and cultural sessions.”

The Maltese football community plays a crucial role in the “All In – All For Football” project, providing the venues, the coaches, equipment and, above all, the opportunity for partecipants to engage with the club community.

The Malta FA’s efforts to promote social inclusion for refugees and vulnerable people has been recognised by UEFA.

The inclusion projects were mentioned in four sections of the ‘UEFA Football and Refugees Good Practise Collection’ which was published last year.
