Mosta, Floriana share six goals in entertaining draw

Mosta and Floriana earned a point each in an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday.

The Blues remain ninth but now lie on the 24-point mark – one point ahead of Tarxien, two ahead of Senglea and six ahead of St. Andrews. Floriana, on the other hand, remain in a most comfortable eighth place on 29 points.

Mosta took the lead on the 13th minute when Akeem Garnet Roach, served by Jonas Rodriguez Ekani, beat Akpan with a shot from the edge of the area.

Five minutes later, the Blues doubled the score as Demir Imeri caught the Floriana goalkeeper out of place and scored with a perfect lob.

However Floriana reduced the gap thanks to Kristian Keqi seven minutes from the end of the first half, hitting home from close range following a cross from the left and a header by Emerson Marcelina.

Eleven minutes in the second half, Arthur Henrique Oyama levelled matters for Floriana as he headed the ball home from close range following a Brandon Paiber freekick from the left.

Substitute Terence Vella made it 3-2 for Floriana on the 79th minute as he deflected the ball past the Mosta goalkeeper following a shot by Brandon Paiber from outside the area.

However eight minutes from time, another substitute, James Brincat, restored equilibrium, hitting home from close range after Demir Imeri had a shot from the right partially saved by the Floriana goalkeeper.
