Luxol Futsal claim double

After winning the championship, Luxol ended the season in style as they won the Futsal Knock-Out thanks to a 6-2 win over Valletta in an entertaining final on Thursday.

Dylan Musu put Valletta ahead on the 3rd minute but less than a minute later, Andy Mangion equalised. Then, in the final two minutes of the first half, Leanderson Sant’ Anna Coriolano scored to put Luxol 2-1 ahead before the end of the first half.

Seven minutes in the second half, Luxol increased the lead thanks to an unfortunate deflection by Musu and immediately after, Nicola Del Re, who was wearing the captain’s band instead of Mark Zammit, scored their fourth. In the last eight minutes Luxol added more goals with Celino Alves and again Leanderson with Mohamed Abdussalam Elamari reducing the arrears in the dying minutes.

After the match, MFA Vice President Dr Matthew Paris together with Mireille Vella presented the cup to Nicola Del Re and Mark Zammit.

Meanwhile Tarxien Rainbows won the last Promotion Play Off against Pietà Hotspurs, beating them 4-0.

Therefore another futsal season came to an end with Luxol St. Andrews taking part in the UEFA Futsal Champions League Preliminary Round this summer.
