Ten-man Qormi stun Hibernians

Valletta retain the top spot in the BOV Premier League as Qormi revived their hopes of avoiding relegation thanks to a 3-1 win over Hibernians at the Centenary Stadium.

The Paolites therefore stay two points behind leaders Valletta while Qormi close in on St. Andrews as they move to just two points behind the Saints.

Qormi took the lead on the 15th minute thanks to a Yannick Yankam header off a corner from the left by Antonio Rozzi.

The Paolites equalised three minutes later when Marco Sahanek’s corner from the left created havoc inside the area with Andrei Agius hitting home from close range.

Three minutes from the end of the first half, Sahanek was unlucky to hit the upright with a curling shot from the edge of the area.

However, just before the end of the first half – one minute in added time, Qormi regained the lead when off an assist by Yankam from the left, Antonio Rozzi slotted the ball past Jovicic.

Ten minutes from time, Qormi had Tensior Gusman sent off but on the 89th, they managed to score a third goal thanks to Mohamed Bangoura who concluded a good move on the left flank with an angled shot which beat the Hibernians goalkeeper.
