Birkirkara close in on title

Birkirkara moved to just one point away from a third consecutive BOV Women’s League championship after defeating Kirkop United 2-0 at the Mgarr Ground on Monday. 

The Stripes opened the score through Veronique Mifsud on the 24th minute before Ylenia Carabott wrapped up the victory with a 49th-minute goal.

Mgarr United kept the pace with the leaders thanks to a 3-0 win over at the Centenary Stadium on Tuesday.

The Greens forged ahead through Haley Bugeja on the 4th minute. After the change of ends, Bugeja again on minute 62 before Brenda Borg made it 3-0 on minute 68. 

In Section B, Raiders (Luxol) scored a goal in each half to claim a 2-0 win over Mosta at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Michela Bonello Ghio unblocked the score on the 20th minute with Maya Lucia doubling the lead nine minutes from time. 

In another match, Swieqi United defeated Fgura United with two goals in the second half through Krista Montfort on minute 56 and Sonia Schembri past the hour mark. Janice Pace pulled one back for Fgura United in stoppage-time.
