Qormi kept the pace with St. Andrews in the battle against relegation as they registered a second consecutive win, defeating Birkirkara 1-0 at the Hibernians Stadium on Monday.

With one match to go, Qormi lie on the 19-point mark, two behind St. Andrews as they await the game between Senglea and Hibernians.

For Birkirkara, who had coach John Buttigieg making his debut, this was the third consecutive defeat which leaves them in seventh place.

Qormi scored the all-important goal ten minutes from time when Wellington de Oliveira tried to conclude but his attempt was blocked by a defender with Antonio Rozzi hitting low past Naumovski.
