Qormi condemned to playing in Division 1

Qormi were relegated to Division 1 following a 1-1 draw with Mosta at the National Stadium on Friday. Qormi therefore join Pieta Hotspurs in the First Division after both were promoted at the end of last season.

Mosta took the lead on 61 minutes when James Brincat exchanged the ball with Jonas Rodriguez Ekani before hitting hard past goalkeeper David Cassar.

Qormi levelled matters on 76 minutes when Manolito Micallef entered the penalty area and served substitute Tensior Gusman who hit home past the Mosta goalkeeper.

Two minutes later, Qormi were awarded a penalty when Manolito Micallef was brought down inside the area by Tyrone Farrugia but Manolito Micallef’s effort from the penalty spot ended wide.

However considering that St. Andrews defeated Gzira, even a win would have not been enough to avoid relegation.
