Balzan secure FA Trophy semi-final spot

Balzan reached the semi-finals of the FA Trophy after beating Tarxien Rainbows 2-0 at the Hibernians Stadium on Friday.

Balzan, who had defeated Qrendi 5-1 and Xewkija Tigers 6-1 in the previous rounds, therefore remain on track to winning their first major honour in the history of the club after finishing in a disappointing sixth place in their Premier League campaign.

In the semi-finals, Balzan will be facing either Mosta or Birkirkara.

Alfred Effiong put Balzan ahead just before the end of the first half.

Ricardo Calixto Correa Duarte doubled the score on the 63rd minute.
