Pietà Hotspurs win Youth Knock-Out

A goal by Liam Mckay six minutes in the second half was enough for Pietà Hotspurs to beat Qormi 1-0 in the final of the Youth Knock-Out Competition at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Wednesday.

Qormi ended the game in nine men after having Aidan Bonnici and Gilmour Sammut sent off on the 71st minute and 90th respectively.

On their way to the final, the Hotspurs defeated Msida St. Joseph 6-0, Floriana 3-0, Swieqi United 1-0 and St. Andrews on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra-time.

This season, Pietà Hotspurs missed out on the Youth League Section A championship after losing a decider after extra-time to Birkirkara while in the Youth FA Competitions, Pietà won the Under-15 Section A championship and the Under-15 Knock-Out Competition while the Under-17 side won the Section A championship and is a finalist in Sunday’s Knock-Out Competition where they will be meeting Floriana.
