Floriana sign Tiago Adan Fonseca, Matias Garcia, Diego Venancio

Floriana FC are one of the most active sides in transfer market after securing the services of three new foreigners who impressed with their clubs last season.

The three new players are former Senglea Athletic duo Matias Nicolas Garcia and Francisco Diego Venancio da Silva and Brazilian Tiago Adan Fonseca who played for Hibernians.

Twenty-two year old Argentine midfielder Matias Garcia is a product of Club Atletico Belgrano. He joined Senglea in summer 2017 and helped the club retain its Premier League status for the second consecutive season.

Twenty-five year old Francisco Diego Venancio da Silva played for Ceará SC, AE Tiradentes, Ferroviário AC and Caucaia EC in Brazil before moving to Malta in January to join Senglea. He soon established himself in the team, becoming one of the key players in helping his side avoiding relegation.

Thirty-one year old Tiago Adan Fonseca joins the Greens following a successful season at Hibernians. A product of Corinthians, he played for Náutico, São Bento and S.E.R. Caxias do Sul before moving to Romania to join Astra Ploiesti. He returned to Brazil eighteen months later, joining Arapongas and later for Atlético Paranaense, América FC, Associação Ferroviária de Esportes, Criciúma EC, Clube Náutico Capibaribe, Oeste FC, Vila Nova FC and Grêmio Novorizontino before joining Hibernians last summer.

Floriana, who have appointed Vincenzo Potenza as their new coach, had earlier made Brandon Paiber’s move a permanent one while renewing the contracts of Ulises Arias and Kristian Keqi.

Another new face will be that of Ryan Camenzuli who joined the club in January as part of the deal which took Maurizio Vella to Birkirkara. Camenzuli had a spell on loan with the club in season 2016/17. He will be back on the field of play following an eighteen-month ban.

Meanwhile seventeen-year old goalkeeper Christopher Farrugia leaves the club to join Sheffield United for season 2019/20 while Matthew Grech will no longer play for the Greens after he was released by mutual consent.
