Three national team players renew contract with Birkirkara

Michael Mifsud, Luke Montebello and Matthew Guillaumier will be staying with Birkirkara after signing new deals with the club.

Veteran striker Michael Mifsud signed a one-year deal with the club after joining the Stripes last season. The thirty-eight year old striker started his career with Sliema Wanderers and later played for a number of clubs including Kaiserslautern in Germany, Lillestrom in Norway, Coventry and Barnsley in England, Qormi, Valletta, Melbourne Heart in Australia.

Luke Montebello, who is a product of Birkirkara, signed a five-year contract with the club. The twenty-three year old striker had a spell with Livorno in Italy and then played for Valletta, Zebbug Rangers, Tarxien Rainbows and Pembroke Athleta before making his return to Birkirkara in summer 2017.

Twenty-one year old Matthew Guillaumier, on the other hand, signs a four-year contract with the club. He had joined Birkirkara in January 2016 from St. Andrews.

The Stripes have so far announced the signing of Enrico Pepe, Roderick Briffa and Miguel Angel Alba.
