Nicky Vella joins Birkirkara

Birkirkara secured the services of twenty-nine year old goalkeeper Nicholas Vella from Valletta.

A product of San Gwann, Vella had joined Valletta in summer 2006, first on loan and then on a definite transfer. He left the club to join Tarxien Rainbows in 2011 but in 2014 moved back to Valletta. Vella, who was also a member of the Malta national team, spent last season on loan with Pieta Hotspurs.

During the weekend, the Stripes also signed Brazilian attacking midfielder Renato Gonçalves de Lima.

Twenty-seven year old Renatinho started his career with Santa Cruz and later played for Campinense and Fortaleza before enjoying a spel with Al-Qadisiya in Kuwait.

The Stripes have so far announced the signing of Enrico Pepe, Roderick Briffa, Miguel Angel Alba and Isaac Ntow while extending the contract of Michael Mifsud, Luke Montebello and Matthew Guillaumier.
