MFA SportsPlus looking to expand operations

MFA SportsPlus Limited will be looking to consolidate and expand its operations in the coming years.

Established in 2018 as a joint venture between the Malta Football Association and Austrian-based sports agency SLFC, MFA SportsPlus Limited provides a variety of services mostly related to sports tourism. The company’s core activities include the organisation of training camps for local and foreign teams, both in Malta and abroad, and the handling of all logistical aspects – travelling, accommodation, transport – for local and visiting sports teams as well as sports associations, both incoming and outgoing.

The first meeting of the Board of Directors of MFA SportsPlus Limited for season 2019-20 was held on Wednesday afternoon and was attended by Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo.

“The aim is to consolidate the work and results attained so far while also expanding the company’s operations by exploring new opportunities and markets,” the Board of Directors of MFA SportsPlus Limited said in a statement. “We will be looking to maximise the resources of the Malta FA for the benefit of all the stakeholders.”

MFA SportsPlus Limited has an important role to play in the implementation of a number of projects earmarked by Malta FA President Vassallo in his Vision 2027 strategy.

Earlier this year, MFA SportsPlus Limited co-ordinated the logistical aspects of the winter training camp organised by Fiorentina and was responsible for the organisation of the VisitMalta Tournament which featured the participation of the Italian Serie A club together with Maltese teams Gżira United and Hibernians. MFA SportsPlus Limited also organised the Tipsport Malta Cup at the National Stadium last January. Four visiting teams, three from the Czech Republic and one from Slovakia, took part in this tournament.
