Sliema, Valletta seek first points

Sliema Wanderers and Valletta chase their first points in BOV Premier League as the two teams cross swords in one of the two matches in programme at the National Stadium on Thursday.

In another match, Floriana and Balzan target a second win to take sole leadership.

After beating Birkirkara 1-0 and Sliema Wanderers 2-1 respectively, Floriana and Balzan target a second consecutive win in a clash between two teams aiming at doing better than last season after finishing eighth and sixth respectively.

Balzan could have Malta Under-21 international Marcus Grima making his debut after joining the club from St. Andrews after a spell with Barnsley on loan.

Sliema Wanderers and champions Valletta will be hoping to bounce back after suffering defeats in their first outing. The Wanderers lost 1-2 to Balzan while Valletta suffered a shock 2-3 defeat to newly-promoted Santa Lucia. A win is therefore a must for the two teams.

Earlier this week, Sliema signed Senegalese striker Seydou Sow while Valletta are hoping to register in time Georgian midfielder Irakli Dzaria.
