Under-21 side loses 4-0 in Ukraine

The Malta Under-21 side lost 4-0 to Ukraine in a match from Group 8 of the UEFA Under-21 Championship at the Slavutych Arena in Zaporizhia on Tuesday.

The hosts were eager to bounce back following a 0-2 defeat to Finland in their opening match on Friday and managed to take the lead on teh 17th minute thanks to Dmytro Topalov. Four minutes later, Nazariy Rusyn doubled the score with Bogdan Lednev making it 3-0 five minutes from the end of the first half.

Seven minutes from time, substitute Heorhii Tsitaishvili added another.

Malta will be in action once again on October 10, facing leaders Finland at the Veritas Stadion in Turku.
