Luxol prepare for UEFA Futsal Champions League main round commitments

Luxol St. Andrews Futsal Club’s adventure in the UEFA Futsal Champions League continues as preparations are underway for their main round commitments following their great experience in Tromso, Norway where they won their group with maximum points to reach the next stage.

The team is training under the supervision of Romanian coach Gabriel Dobre as the Main Round appointment is swiftly beckoning. A very tough group awaits the Maltese Futsal Champions as they pursue a difficult Qualification to the Elite Round, notwithstanding their top and more realistic target to amass more than the three points obtained in their last Main Round appearance two years ago.

Luxol will be playing in Group 5 where they will face Bielsko-Biala of Poland on October 10, hosts AC Sparta Praha on October 11 and Csikzereda Sportklub of Romania on October 13. The tournament will be played in Prague.

The Super Cup against Valletta FC Futsal – the curtain raiser for the new domestic season on September 27, is regarded as an opportunity for both sides to pursue more honours, while indeed for Luxol this contest could also be considered as a dress rehearsal for their UEFA Futsal Champions League commitments.

The Luxol administration – namely chairman Joseph Karl Aquilina, president Mario Vella, vice-president Jose da Silva and technical director Nathaniel Jones are working relentlessly to strengthen this already powerful group of players, notwithstanding the setback of possibly losing Slovenian talisman Dejan Bizjak to be replaced with another star player who is still unnamed as negotiations are still ongoing.

The UEFA Futsal Champions League Main Round runs from the 8th to the 13th of October, deciding the 16 Elite Round contenders, this round is split between Path A and B. Path A gives the opportunity to the top three in each group to progress to the elite round. On the other hand, the sixteen teams in Path B, including Luxol were divided into four groups of four with only the winner moving on to the next stage.
