Luxol Futsal off to Prague for UEFA Futsal Champions League main round

Futsal Champions Luxol St. Andrews Futsal left Malta on Tuesday morning destination Prague where they will be playing in Group 5 of the UEFA Futsal Champions League Main Round Path B.

Having emphatically won their Preliminary Round group in Tromso, Norway late in August, the Luxol contingent headed to the Czech capital in full spirit conscious of this difficult task ahead but in a positive mood nonetheless.

They are fully aware how the strength in-depth and quality they possess in this group of players led by coach Gabriel Dobre and his assistant Clint Cope, could steer them to glory and blend perfectly well in their lifted ambitions and targets of not just matching, but better their Main Round performance two years ago in Deva, Romania, where they avoided bottom place as they collected three points.

This time round, their target is clear and pretty forceful to pursue this coveted and historical Qualification to the Elite Round with the best sixteen Futsal clubs in Europe.

Luxol make their Group 5 debut this Thursday against Polish Champions Bielsko-Biala. On Friday, they cross swords with hosts AC Sparta Praha, before wrapping it all up on Sunday against Romanian side Csikzereda Sportklub.

Over the past days, the squad has been strengthened with the arrival of Brazilian duo Alcides Pereira and Fineo de Araujo, the latter being an Azerbaijan international player.

The Luxol squad in Prague is made up of Kenneth Rakvaag, Clint Mifsud, Stefan Vella, Dragan Obradovic, Mark Zammit, Gian Carlo Sammut, Matthew Attard, Carl Azzopardi, Aidan Micallef, Celino Alves, Leanderson Sant’Anna, Maicon Silva, Everton Vevé, Alcides Pereira, Marwan Telissi, Emil Andrei Raducu, Zvezdan Vukovic.
