Comfortable wins for Birkirkara, Mgarr United and Swieqi United

Birkirkara, Mgarr United and Swieqi United registered comfortable wins on Match-Day 2 of the BOV Women’s League.

Champions Birkirkara defeated Kirkop United 7-1 at the Dingli Ground on Wednesday.

Ethopian international Loza Abera put the Stripes ahead on the 16th minute and four minutes later, Veronique Mifsud doubled the score. Ann-Marie Said increased the lead on the 24th and a minute later, Kailey Willis made it 4-0. Five minutes from the end of the first half, Loza Abera scored Birkirkara’s fifth goal.

Ten minutes in the second half, Ylenia Carabott converted a penalty and Tracy Teuma added another on the 75th. Isabelle Mazzitelli pulled one back eleven minutes from time.

Mgarr United defeated Mosta 6-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium on Tuesday.

Roxanne Micallef put Mgarr ahead on the 7th minute and Francesca Chircop doubled the score six minutes later. Brenda Borg then scored three – on the 24th, 60th and 79th with Claudette Xuereb adding another eight minutes from time.

Meanwhile Swieqi United registered their first win as they beat Hibernians 7-0 at the Mgarr Ground on Tuesday.

Swieqi took the lead on the 4th minute and Jade Flask doubled the score on the 12th. Ten minutes from the end of the first half, Xuereb scored the third goal for the Paolites. Fourteen minutes in the second half, Jade Flask increased the lead and following a goal by Celeste Grech on the 71st, substitute Kelly Agius Pace scored twice – on the 80th and 86th.

Meanwhile in the Women’s Under-19 League, Swieqi United registered their third win as they defeated Mtarfa 12-0. Mosta and Mgarr United shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw to drop their first points. Kirkop United and Hibernians earned their first point in a 1-1 draw while Birkirkara and Raiders Gharghur also shared the spoils in another 1-1 draw.

The Women’s Under-15 League kicked-off with comfortable wins for Raiders Gharghur, Swieqi United and Senglea Athletic.

Raiders beat Zebbug Rangers 6-2 while Swieqi defeated Mgarr Untied 8-2. Senglea Athletic defeated Mtarfa 4-0 while Kirkop United and Birkirkara shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
