Birkirkara girls to play first series of friendly matches against foreign teams

Birkirkara FC will be playing a friendly match against Cork City FC, an Irish women’s football team that competes in the top division, on Friday, 22 November in a match that will be played at the Sirens Stadium (Kick-Off – 20:15).

This friendly match is the first in a series of friendly matches in the ongoing project that the club is aiming for the development of the women’s team. This friendly match provides the right opportunity for the players to gain further experience against top-division foreign teams.

The women’s team of Cork City, who were founded in 2011, and they compete in the Irish Women’s National League – the top division of women’s football in Ireland. They completed their league commitments last Sunday with a 1-1 draw against Wexford Youths FC to finish in fifth place.

As part of the plan to continue promoting women’s football, entrance for this match is free of charge and the club is encouraging the supporters to come to the stadium and support the team.
