Malta FA officials meet Lega Pro, FIGC presidents in Firenze

A delegation from the Malta Football Association met FIGC president Gabriele Gravina and the Lega Pro president Francesco Ghirelli at the headquarters of the Lega Pro in Firenze. This was the second meeting between the two parties.

The Lega Pro organises the Serie C League, the Coppa Italia Serie C and the Supercoppa di Serie C and one of MFA President Bjorn Vassallo’s plans is the creation of a professional football team that will compete in an overseas professional championship, possibly the Italian Serie C.

In a statement the Lega Pro said that the main theme discussed was a possible agreement on a strategy between the Maltese and Italian federations regarding a specific and strong synergy over a project which will focus on the growth of football on a professional basis.

Further meetings will be held in the coming weeks.

Leading the Malta FA delegation was president Bjorn Vassallo, MFA vice-president Dr Matthew Paris, General Secretary Dr Angelo Chetcuti, Dr Luke Dalli and Brian Farrugia.
