Luxol Futsal extend lead

Leaders Luxol St Andrews Futsal Club extended the lead on top the Elite League after defeating direct challengers Valletta FC Futsal 8-1 on Friday night. Luxol are now six points clear of Valletta despite having a game in hand.

Luxol stuck to their high-tempo passing game and aggressive high press to hit the ground running early with two goals inside the first three minutes through Gian Carlo Sammut and Celino Alves. Soon after, André Ciancio pulled a goal back in what turned out to be the consolation goal on the night for the Lilywhites.

Time for yet another goal before the interval seeing Luxol increasing their lead through Zvezdan Vukovic.

In the second half, the champions cruised with five more goals, a second for Sammut, before captain Mark Zammit, Carl Azzopardi, an own goal, and Emil Andrei made the score-line look emphatic for Luxol winning 8-1.

Meanwhile on Wednesday, University of Malta Futsal defeated Swieqi United FC Futsal 9-5 with UoM already leading by seven goals to two at the end of the first half.

Dylan Musú was the hero for UoM with four goals, a brace for Swiss Gabriel Buckson, an own goal, and Ervin Rigo, Karl Sciortino and Italian Denis Di Maio all on the score-sheet in this much-needed win for UOM, whereas Spanish Sergio Morales Gonzalez was the only Swieqi player on the score-sheet with four goals under his name before heading early to the locker room ensuing two yellow cards therefore given the marching orders by first referee Pierre Bonnici.

Meanwhile in the Amateur League, Swieqi United’s Team B had a stunning 15-2 win over South Boys. On the other hand, Luxol’s Team B defeated Zurrieq Futsal 5-3.
