Floriana keep marching on

After being held in two draws, Floriana returned to winning ways as two quick-fire goals handed them a 2-1 win over Santa Lucia at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday.

The Greens therefore extend their unbeaten record to twelve matches, staying three points clear of second-placed Gzira United.

Santa Lucia, on the other hand, continue to disappoint with a sixth defeat in eight matches.

Floriana managed to break the deadlock on the 57th minute thanks to a great freekick by Diego Venancio da Silva.

Two minutes later, Tiago Adan Fonseca doubled the score when he received an assist by Brandon Paiber on the right and with a fine curling shot from outside the area, the Brazilian beat the Santa Lucia goalkeeper.

One minute in added time, Adam Magri Overend pulled one back for Santa Lucia with a low diagonal shot from the right.
