Hamrun Spartans appoint new coach

After sacking coach Manuele Blasi on Monday, Hamrun Spartans have appointed Italian coach Andrea Ciaramella as his replacement.

Ciaramella had joined ASD Puteolana last summer after a career as a coach with Audax Cervinara, Alba Durazzano, Battipagliese, Vico Equense, San Tommaso and Frattese.

Earlier on Tuesday ASD Puteolana 1902 announced that Ciaramella and masseur Raffaello Coletta had informed the president and team manager via sms that he was resigning from the post on Monday. The club is currently sharing the top spot in the in the Eccellenza Girone A.

Under the leadership of Manuele Blasi, Hamrun enjoyed a fine start. By the end of September, they were joint-leaders with Floriana and by the third week of October, they were second, three points behind the leaders but they soon started to lose ground and are currently ninth after failing to win a league match since October 21. They are currently ninth on 19 points after a 2-3 defeat to bottom-placed Tarxien Rainbows on Saturday.
