BOV Women’s League: Leaders Birkirkara cruise past Mosta

Leaders Birkirkara keep marching on in the BOV Women’s League thanks to a 9-0 win over Mosta at the Dingli Ground on Tuesday.

Four goals in the first half enabled Birkirkara to virtually wrap up the win in the first forty five minutes. In fact, the Stripes found the net on the 5th minute through Veronique Mifsud before Kailey Willis doubled the score on the 12th minute. Loza Abera and Stephania Farrugia added two more goals on the 31st and 42nd minute. After the change of ends, Melania Bajada’s team found a fifth through Gabriella Zahra on the 52nd minute with Abera making it six, five minutes later. On the 68th minute, Alishia Sultana scored Birkirkara’s seventh with Raina Giusti and Abera wrapping up the win with a couple of more goals on the 85th and 89th respectively.

Raiders registered an impressive win over a solid Kirkop side at the Charles Abela Stadium to move just one point behind the Reds in the table.

It was Kirkop who forged ahead through an early goal from Sarah Urpani on the 2nd minute. Nonetheless, Denis Guerra’s team restored parity through Anna Aloisio on the half hour before Michela Bonello Ghio made it 2-1 on the brink of half-time. Raiders made sure of the win with two late goals through Leanne Micallef on the 63rd and Emma Ciantar Piccinino in added time.

The match between Mgarr United and Hibernians was cancelled after the Paolites withdrew their participation from both the BOV Women’s League and Knock-Out and the Under-19 League and Knock-Out. All their remaining matches were awarded as 3-0 wins to their opponents.

Meanwhile in the Women’s Under-19 Knock-Out Competition, Mgarr Untied defeated Kirkop United 10-0 to set-up a semi-final clash with Mosta who defeated Mtarfa 7-0. Raiders GFC defeated Swieqi United 2-1 and will be meeting Birkirkara in the other semi-final after the latter were awarded a walk-over in their clash with Hibernians.

In the Women’s Under-15 League, second-placed Zebbug Rangers registered a most comfortable 17-0 win over bottom-placed Mgarr United. Birkirkara defeated Mosta 6-0 while Raiders GFC beat Mgarr United 6-1
