BOV Women’s League: Birkirkara see off Raiders

Leaders Birkirkara registered yet another victory after easing past Raiders Għargħur 10-2 at the Dingli Ground on Tuesday in Week 14 of the BOV Women’s League as they now lead the way with 37 points.

Loza Abera Geinore opened the score on the 4th minute and Stephania Farrugia made it 2-0 on the 21st. Loza Abera scored a third on the 31st and two minutes later, Veronique Mifsud added another. An own goal increased the lead further on the 34th before Raina Giusti and Tracy Teuma scored on the 38th and 44th respectively to put the Stripes seven goals ahead.

Birkirkara scored an eighth goal through Alishia Sultana two minutes in the second half but Raiders hit back with goals by Andy Zammit Mizzi on the hour and Anna Aloisio seven minutes later. However another two goals by Loza Abera Geniore on the 82nd and the 90th made it 10-2 for Birkirkara.

In another match, Swieqi United defeated Mosta 6-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Ruth Steer-Chetham gave Swieqi an early lead, putting them ahead on the 9th minute, Jade Flask doubled the score on teh 21st and six minutes later, Emma Xuereb made it 3-0. Four minutes from the end of the first half, Xuereb added another for Swieqi to go four goals ahead before half-time. Kelly Agius Pace scored a fifth on the hour and ten minutes later, Emma Xuereb completed her hat-trick for a final 6-0 score.

Meanwhile in the Women’s Under-19 League Mġarr United maintained their two-point lead after beating Mtarfa 13-1. Swieqi United kept their title hopes alive after defeating Raiders Għargħur 5-1 while Mosta defeated Kirkop United 2-0.
