Women’s national team targets precious points against Georgia

Malta will be hoping to collect precious points on Thursday as the team led by Mark Gatt hosts Georgia at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday, kick-off at 18:30.

After playing five matches, Malta collected one point in a 1-1 draw with Israel in November.  Malta lost 8-0 to Denmark and 2-0 to Bosnia-Herzegovina away from home in the first two matches, then lost 0-2 to Italy at Ta’ Qali and after the draw with Israel, lost 5-0 to Italy away from home.

Georgia, on the other hand, are still chasing their first points after suffering their first five matches. Georgia lost 7-1 to Bosnia Herzegovina away from home, 0-1 to Italy and 0-2 to Denmark at home, 6-0 to Italy away from home and 14-0 to Denmark away from home.

Gatt could not count on his best formation due to the absence of Nicole Sciberras, Shona Zammit and Ylenia Carabott who play for Juventus, Pink Bari and Chievo Fortitudo respectively due to restrictions with regards to those travelling back from northern Italy.

Malta will be in action once again on Tuesday, hosting Bosnia-Herzegovina at the Centenary Stadium.
