Birkirkara hope to extend positive run as they take on Gzira

Birkirkara will be hoping to extend their positive run with a win as they take on Gzira United at the National Stadium, kick-off at 16:00.

The Stripes are unbeaten in seven matches, winning their last three games, although they were eliminated from the FA Trophy after losing on penalties to leaders Floriana. Gzira, on the other hand, lost three out of the last five matches. However, the Maroons lead the Stripes by two points.

Birkirkara’s Matthew Guillaumier and Enrico Pepe and Gzira’s Fernando Barbosa are ruled out through suspension.

In the first round, Gzira defeated Birkirkara 3-1.

Meanwhile in the first match, kick-off at 14:00, Balzan face Tarxien Rainbows.

Balzan will be hoping to bounce back from the shock exit from the FA Trophy at the hands of First Division side Pieta’ Hotspurs. A defeat which led to the resignation of coach Jacques Scerri. In their last league outing, they had defeated Gudja United 2-0 but they lost three out of the previous four matches.

On the other hand, Tarxien remain anchored at the bottom of the table with four points from nineteen matches.

Balzan will be without the suspended Nenad Sljivic and Uros Ljubomirac.

In the first round, Balzan defeated Tarxien 3-1.
