Gudja United scored twice late in the game to register a shock 2-0 win over Valletta at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

After beating Sliema and leaders Floriana, this was the third win in four matches for Josef Mansueto’s side who re-join Sliema on level points, now in joint-tenth place, one point ahead of Santa Lucia and eight ahead of Senglea Athletic.

Valletta, on the other hand, remain three points behind eternal rivals Floriana and just one ahead of third-placed Hibernians.

Gudja managed to break the deadlock ten minutes from time when in a swift counter-attack, Anderson De Barros sent substitute Nivaldo Rodrigues Ferreira through and the latter hit hard past goalkeeper Henry Bonello.

With the Citizens all out in search of the equaliser, three minutes in added time, Gudja doubled the score thanks to Gabriel Mensah whose angled shot hit the upright before ending at the back of the net.
