MFPA alleviating financial burden of players facing accommodation issues

After the Malta Football Association announced the decision of its Executive Committee to terminate the First, Second and Third Division leagues, the Malta Football Players Association will be trying to help those players whose contracts were set to expire at the end of the season who have issues with accommodation.

Usually players are provided accommodation by their clubs as part of their contract.

The MFPA recognises that in these extraordinary circumstances, players may find it more difficult to repatriate immediately. For this reason, the players’ union will be available to help said players with part of their accommodation expenses for the month of May.

In order to be eligible for monetary assistance players must be MFPA members; have a professional contract with a club in one of the leagues which were terminated; have received less than €1,200 in salaries per month during the preceding three months; provide rent payment receipt.

Those players who think they are eligible, and are in need of monetary assistance for accommodation, until they can return safely to their home country, should contact the MFPA on info@maltafpa.com

Applications will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
