In a short statement, Hamrun Spartans confirmed rumours that the club is in talks with Gozitan entrepreneur Joseph Portelli.

It is believed that rather than having an active role in the club management, he will more focussed on the commercialisation of the club’s facilities.

Apart from being the main sponsor of Gozitan champions Nadur Youngsters for a number of years through his company J. Portelli Projects, he had served as a president of the Youngsters between 1998 and 2000 and once again from 2017 till the present day.

Under his leadership, Nadur had won the championship in 1999 and in the past three years, they finished twice as runners-up, winning the title for the 12th time in the history of the club this season.
