Jesmond Zammit appointed Gudja United coach

Gudja United have appointed Jesmond Zammit as their new coach. Zammit replaces Josef Mansueto who left the club after his contract expired at the end of the season.

Zammit spent the last four years with Xewkija Tigers in Gozo, winning the championship in 2016/17. He had started his coaching career with Dingli Swallows whom he led to promotion to the Premier League in 2009. He left the club to join Valletta FC as team-manager but the following season, Zammit was appointed as coach of Hamrun Spartans.

He stepped down eight months later, joining Zebbug Rangers in summer 2012, spending just over two years. In 2016, he joined Xewkija Tigers, coaching the Hibernians women’s team at the same time for one year.

Joining Jesmond Zammit as assistant coach will be Vince Carbonaro. Carbonaro, who throughout his career coached a number of teams including Sta. Venera Lightnings, Zurrieq, Mosta, Qormi, Naxxar Lions and Sirens – winning promotion to the Premier League with both Naxxar Lions and Sirens, was Zammit’s assistant coach at Hamrun during season 2011/12.
