Gzira United continued to strengthen their squad with the signing of Brazilian central defender Gabriel Bohrer Mentz. Mentz signed a two-year deal.

The twenty one year old joins Gzira from Santa Lucia where he spent the last season. Earlier he had played for FC Internacional and Botafogo in Brazil.

The Maroons, who have re-appointed Darren Abdilla as their coach, have earlier signed Steve Borg, Kevaughn Atkinson, Ricardo Calixto Correa Duarte and Jackson Usuga Mendoza. Jefferson Assis, on the other hand, will be back with Gzira after a spell with Al Fujairah in the UAE.
