Newly-promoted Lija Athletic secured the services of thirty one year old midfielder Valdo Goncalves Alhinho.

Alhinho moved to Malta in summer 2010 to join Sliema Wanderers but mid-way through the season was transferred to Msida St. Joseph. In summer 2011, he joined St. Andrews where he spent one year before signing for Floriana. He later played for CR Caála in Angola, Clube Oriental in Portugal and after a spell with Valletta in season 2016/17, he played for FK Jelgava in Latvia, Al-Batin in Saudi Arabia, AD Fafe and FC Alverca in Portugal, moving back to Malta to join Hamrun Spartans last summer.

After confirming coach Joseph Galea, Lija confirmed Dylan Galea, McAllister Clinch, Leon Muscat, Gianluca Zammit and Erjon Beu.
