Malta still 184th as FIFA Ranking remains unchanged

As the football world continues to recover slowly from the COVID-19 pandemic, the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking remained practically unchanged.

Malta therefore remains third from bottom in Europe (184th), just ahead of Gibraltar (196) and San Marino (209). Lying just ahead of Malta are Liechtenstein (180) and Moldova (175).

Gibraltar, San Marino and Liechtenstein will be playing in Group D2 of the UEFA Nations League while Malta was drawn in Group D1 along with Latvia (137), Andorra (135) and Faroe Islands (110).

Malta was due to play a number of friendly matches ahead of this first competitive test for new coach Devis Mangia but last March’s games against Gibraltar and Azerbaijan and the games scheduled for June, including one against Portugal were called off. Malta plays its first game against the Faroe Islands in Torshavn on September 3, following by a clash with Latvia at Ta’ Qali on September 6.

Meanwhile Belgium continue to lead the way in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking ahead of France, Brazil, England, Uruguay, Croatia, Portugal, Spain, Argentina and Colombia.

The only change in the ranking is for South Sudan who climbed one place to 168th
