Birkirkara FC secured the services of twenty-seven year old Brazilian winger Alex da Paixao Alves.

da Paixao Alves, known as Lecao, played for Bahia de Feira, Ferroviario, Oeste, Colo Colo and Parnahyba in Brazil before moving to Malta to join Tarxien Rainbows in summer 2015. Two years later, he moved to Balzan but in January 2019, he was transferred to Al Akhdoud Club in Saudi Arabia.

Birkirkara FC had earlier confirmed Andre Paus as their coach with the Dutchman signing a one-year deal while Oscar Matias Carniello and Claudio Bonanni have renewed their contracts.
