Floriana bounce back with 3-2 win over Sirens

Floriana returned to winning ways as they defeated Sirens 3-2 at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday.

This was the second win for Floriana and the second defeat for Sirens, who continue to share the bottom place with a number of other teams on just one point.

The Greens took the lead after just four minutes thanks to Jan Busuttil who hit low past goalkeeper David Cassar following a cross from the left by Ryan Camenzuli.

Sirens levelled matters on the 18th minute thanks to Samba Tounkara whose fine rising shot gave goalkeeper Justin Spiteri no chance following a good move by the Malian striker.

Floriana regained the lead four minutes in the second half when off a cross from the left by Nicola Leone delivered a cross from the left, Jurgen Pisani’s close-range header was blocked by the goalkeeper and Kristian Keqi placed the ball at the back of the net off the rebound. 

On the 64th minute, Floriana went 3-1 ahead when Jan Busuttil exchanged the ball with Brandon Paiber, beating David Cassar with an angled shot from the right, with the ball being slightly deflected by Pearson.

Sirens reduced the gap thirteen minutes from time when off a Ryan Grech freekick, Wilfried Domoraud’s header hit the upright and off the rebound, Manuel Angel Bustos headed home from close range. 

Two minutes in added time, Floriana had Nicola Leone sent off after receiving two yellow cards.
