Second win for Sliema Wanderers

Sliema Wanderers returned to victory thanks to a 3-1 win over Santa Lucia 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday.

A win which puts the Wanderers in second place, two points behind leaders Hamrun Spartans. Santa Lucia, on the other hand, suffer their second defeat after losing to Hamrun during the weekend.

The Blues took the lead on the 22nd minute when a corner by Myles Beerman from the right created havoc inside the area and Alessandro Milesi placed the ball at the back of the net from close range.

On the 32nd, the Wanderers doubled the score when off a cross by Ruslan Kisil, Danny Holla controlled the ball before beating Andreas Vella with a powerful shot from outside the area.

Santa Lucia pulled one back on the 67th minute when off a cross by Alan da Silva, Kevin Ante Rosero served Michael Camilleri who hit low past Jake Galea.

However, two minutes in added time, Gilmar da Silva Ribeiro made it 3-1 with a direct freekick from the right which gave Vella no chance.
